Tonight on Lip Service we had Big Star Burlesque in the studio, Texas’s only plus size burlesque troupe. They were such a mind-blowingly sexy, intelligent, and confident group of women! It was so inspirational to listen to them speak about how proud they are of their bodies, and how liberating it feels just to “let it all hang out”. All of this in spite of the fantastical, idealized notion of “beauty” (a.k.a. THIN) that is being perpetuated by the media and driving many women to starve themselves.

Speaking with these girls tonight really inspired me to form my own troupe, so I’m rounding up a bunch of us from HOC to start one! I’m thinking a veggie theme will do. Man, it has been so long since I’ve been involved in the sex industry. Now that I have a fresh, more nuanced perspective, I’m really looking forward to diving back in: and this time it will truly be a feminist endeavor.

Whew, I just wrapped up a rather intense all-nighter. I literally sat at the computer for nine consecutive hours, pouring over this paper for my Asian Americans in the Media class. It’s a critical analysis of Asian fetish porn, focusing specifically on the amateur film Hot Indian Pussy. My central argument is that while Hollywood scrambles to adapt to the rapidly evolving, multicultural landscape of America, the US porn industry remains absolutely retrogressive. This is because porn is not regulated by the same social standards as other forms of media. If you’re interested you can download the paper here. It’s by far the most interesting topic I’ve approached throughout my college career!

So, I’m leaving for Houston tomorrow morning to go to the Renaissance Fair. I still can’t decide whether to dress up or not, but if I do then I’m going as a medieval dominatrix. Unfortunately the boyfriend has appendicitis so he will not be in attendance. Boo :( He was going to be my boy toy on a leash.

Next weekend is the American Psycho shoot (gender roles reversed, of course). Sierra and Spencer are an amazing duo–I hardly have to direct them at all. They play off of each other really well too. I can already tell this is going to be a great piece.

So I was just invited to go to San Francisco in March to shoot a mini-doc of Aryawn as they travel the city and play five shows in four days. I am so incredibly excited! I’ve never been to S.F. but I have been interested in working for kink.com for many years now and this might be a good opportunity to drop by the studio and network a bit.

Jerry and I recently wrapped up The Tumor and it’s now in post-production. The shoot went very well–my actors were absolutely phenomenal to work with. We truly made a great team. I will be uploading all of my projects very soon so keep a look out for that.

In other news, KVRX is throwing a $5 show at The Mohawk this Friday. It’s sort of a celebration of the recent election so they are calling it a “Presidential Party”. I will be volunteering at the merch booth, so come out and say hello!

Tonight at House of Commons there will be a free show complete with a a keg and four live bands! Aryawn, Boogdish, The Terrordactyls, and The Pharmacy will be performing. It’s totally free and you can scope out my rad place of residence. The show starts at 10 pm and goes until we just can’t take it anymore. If you’ve got nothing better to do on a Thursday night then come out and play!
